Since 2004, Incight has awarded more than 980 scholarships to students with disabilities pursuing higher education. These scholars are enrolled in Community Colleges, Universities, Vocational Schools, and Graduate Programs.

Students who demonstrate outstanding service to their community and overcome personal obstacles are awarded scholarships from Incight. These scholars spread the message of Incight far and wide.  After graduation and throughout their life Incight scholars volunteer, support, and participate in Incight.

Eligibility For Incight Scholarship Program

1. You must be a current Washington, Oregon, or California resident.

2. You must have a disability. This can be any type of disability as it is defined by the ADA, DSM-V, IDEA, or other governing body. This classification includes, but is not limited to:

  • Autism
  • Deaf-blindness
  • Deafness
  • Development delay
  • Emotional disturbance
  • Hearing impairment
  • Intellectual disability
  • Multiple disabilities
  • Orthopedic impairment
  • Other health impairment
  • Specific learning disability
  • Speech or language impairment

AAHD Scholarship Program Scholarships For Learning Disabled

The mission of the American Association on Health and Disability (AAHD) is to contribute to national, state, and local efforts to promote health and wellness in people with disabilities and identify effective intervention strategies that reduce health disparities between people with disabilities and the general population. AAHD accomplishes its mission through research, education, and advocacy at the national, state, and community level.

Eligibility For AAHD Scholarship Program

  • Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student and must have completed one full year of college or more. In other words, the applicant must have sophomore or greater status in a program at a college or university pursuing an undergraduate degree as of fall 2023; or enrolled part-time or full-time in a graduate school, pursuing a post-graduate degree as of fall 2023.
  • Important: applicants who have not yet graduated from high school will not be considered. High school students entering college, for the first time, in the fall of 2023 are NOT eligible to apply. The only exception would be for high school students who have achieved sophomore status via high school AP course credits.
  • Applicant must have a disability as defined by the American with Disabilities Act and must provide documentation to verify this.
  • Preference will be given to students majoring in public health, disability studies, health promotion or a field related to disability and health.
  • Preference will be given to students with a history of community service and/or volunteer activities.
  • Applicant must be a US citizen or legal resident living in the United States and enrolled in an accredited United States university.

Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship Program

The Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship is a $5,000 scholarship awarded over two years ($2,500 each year) to a graduating high school senior who will enroll in a two-year community college, a vocational or technical training program, or a specialized program for students with LD and/or ADHD in the fall. Students must have a documented learning disability (LD) and/or ADHD.

American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation

The American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation (ASHFoundation) invites full-time students who will be or who are currently enrolled in a communication sciences and disorders graduate program to apply for graduate scholarships.

Scholarships are available to students who are undergraduate seniors or who are currently pursuing masters or doctoral degrees. Both research and clinical doctorate students are eligible.

Eligibility Of American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation (ASHFoundation)

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation (ASH Foundation)  Student Scholarship.

Graduate Study

  1. The applicant must be accepted for, or enrolled in, graduate study in a communication sciences and disorders program in the United States. Clinical doctoral programs in audiology or master’s programs in speech-language pathology must be accredited by, or in candidacy status from, the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology; this does not apply to research doctoral programs.

The applicant must be enrolled in full-time study for the full academic year.

Academic and Personal Merit

  1. The applicant must submit university transcripts of academic coursework, credits, grades, and grade point average (GPA).
  1. The applicant must have three confidential letters of recommendation. The letters can be from a combination of academic faculty and work references, depending on the applicant’s specific situation. The letters of recommendation should meet the following requirements:
    1. Applicants who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate program: At least two letters must be from academic faculty at the applicant’s current undergraduate college or university program.
    2. Applicants who are currently enrolled in a graduate program: At least two letters must be from academic faculty. These letters can come from faculty at the applicant’s current or past college or university program.
    3. Applicants who are returning to school from the workforce: It is acceptable to have letters from colleagues (and at least one supervisor) at the applicant’s current place of employment, as well as letters from references who are familiar with the applicant’s academic history and potential.

Microsoft Disability Scholarship

The Microsoft Disability Scholarship seeks to empower students with disabilities to achieve more through access to education leading to a career in technology.

This scholarship will be awarded to promising high school seniors with disabilities who plan to attend a vocational or academic college and aspire to have a career in the technology industry.

The scholarships are renewable – each winner who continues to meet the criteria is eligible to receive an annual award of $5,000 for up to four (4) consecutive years for a potential total of $20,000 scholarship. A total of eight (8) scholarships will be awarded in 2023.
